Job Advertisement: Museum Host

We are looking for two museum hosts for the summer season with a 50% workload. Working hours include both weekdays and weekends, and there is a possibility for additional hours if needed.

  • Period: June 30 – August 10, 2025

About us

The Historical Museum and the Economic Museum - Royal Coin Cabinet share premises and have a common entrance and shop. The hospitality unit functions as a collaborative organization where all employees work for both museums. We are responsible for hospitality, visitor services, the museum shop, and event activities. We play an important role in the visitors' experience and serve as the link between the exhibitions, program activities, shop products, and the visitors.

The Historical Museum is one of Sweden's largest museums with an extensive collection of historical and archaeological artifacts. The museum provides visitors with the opportunity to get to know and understand the people who lived before us. The vision is to unite people through time and space and to spark curiosity about how the past influences the present and the future.

The Economic Museum - Royal Coin Cabinet has a vision to inspire people to be active in the present to shape the future through economic history and numismatics. The museum serves as a meeting place for economic learning and financial education. By increasing knowledge about economic issues, people gain better opportunities to influence their economy and understand their participation in society.

About you

We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, taking initiative, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. You find it easy to make contact, lead conversations, and work in a fast-paced environment where quick decisions may be needed. The most important thing for us is your positive attitude and your commitment to providing each visitor with a memorable experience.

You are a skilled host with experience in customer service and sales. You see opportunities for upselling, actively engage with visitors in both the entrance and the shop, and create interest in our exhibitions and programs. You also have experience working with shop displays. You are responsible, structured, and ensure that the work flows smoothly.

You should be able to speak Swedish and English and also a third language, as our main target group during the summer is tourists visiting Stockholm. By being able to communicate in multiple languages, you help enrich the experience at our museums. You also need to have experience in conducting guided tours and feel comfortable speaking in front of groups.

Your tasks

You are an important part of the team responsible for world-class hospitality and providing the best possible experience for our visitors and guests. Hospitality, service, and sales for us are about being attentive, curious, caring, and providing a positive response.

As a museum host, you have a varied and responsible role with several important tasks. You staff the museum's entrance and shop, where you sell tickets, annual passes, audio guides, and shop items. You inform visitors about current exhibitions and events, guide them correctly in the museum, and conduct visitor surveys. During concerts and other events, you may also welcome the audience from the stage. Additionally, you serve as a resource and can, if needed, conduct both public and booked guided tours during the employment period.

Part of your work also involves managing the museums' and the museum shop's social media. You are expected to respond to comments and interact with followers on both Instagram and Facebook, which contributes to strengthening the museums' digital presence and engagement.

Qualifications

We see that you have the following qualifications that are meritorious:

  • Experience in hospitality
  • Experience in active sales and upselling
  • Shop displays
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, English, and a third language
  • Experience in conducting guided tours and speaking in front of an audience.
  • Meritorious: Education in history and economic history or equivalent.

Other: We are looking for two museum hosts with a 50% workload during the period: June 30, 2025, to August 10, 2025.
